JOB SITE LOCATION: 1075 3rd Ave SW, Carmel, IN 46032
DUTIES: JCOM International LLC seeks a Project Engineering Manager in Carmel, IN. This position does not require travel.
Team Leadership and Development (15%): Lead, supervise, and mentor project team engineers; Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to team members; Identify training needs and develop professional development plans for staff; Recruit, interview, hire and onboard new engineering team members; Foster a collaborative team environment and resolve interpersonal conflicts; Set individual and team performance goals aligned with organizational objectives and review for annual compensation increase.
Strategic Planning and Decision Making (12%) : Make high-level decisions regarding project prioritization and resource allocation across multiple projects; Evaluate and approve new technologies, equipment, `and methodologies for adoption; Establish policies and standard operating procedures; Analyze market trends and competitor activities to inform strategic direction; Present strategic recommendations to executive leadership.
Budget and Financial Management (10%): Develop and manage related personnel; Approve expenditures and allocate financial resources across multiple projects; Forecast future budget needs based on projected workload and growth; Analyze cost variances and implement corrective actions; Negotiate contracts and pricing with vendors and suppliers; Report on financial performance to senior management.
Cross-Functional Leadership (8%): Collaborate with sales, operations, and executive teams to align engineering capabilities with business objectives; Lead cross-departmental initiatives and improvement projects; Establish and maintain relationships with key clients and stakeholders; Coordinate with legal and compliance teams on regulatory matters; Drive organizational change initiatives related to engineering processes.
Quality Assurance and Process Improvement (6%): Establish and maintain quality management systems and standards across all projects; Conduct management reviews of laboratory operations and project outcomes; Implement continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma); Audit project processes and ensure compliance with ISO and industry standards; Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure effectiveness; Review and approve all major technical reports and customer deliverables.
Laboratory Coordination and Technical Analysis (10%): Coordinate the in-house laboratory for technical cleanliness and optimized manufacturing processes utilizing JCOM vacuum degreaser product lines; Investigate technical cleanliness in determining residual contamination on metallic and non-metallic manufactured components from the automotive, aerospace, and medical industry; Perform contamination and cleanliness analysis according to current customer and factory standards; Conduct extraction using rinsing, spraying and ultrasonic methods; Perform gravimetric measurement of residual dirt and classification of particle distribution and size; Execute microscopic identification and automatic count of particles, fibers and organic residues.
Application Development and Technical Expertise (8%): Facilitate and develop cleaning applications for specific parts; Keep up-to-date on latest developments in parts cleaning technology; Maintain expertise in applicable chemicals and their performance for solvent based cleaning; Maintain knowledge of applicable detergents and their performance for aqueous cleaning; Understand manufacturing processes that lead to the need of component cleaning; Stay informed about the cleanliness standards of the industries served; Create cleaning specifications to establish processes by which cleaning standards are met; Analyze cleaning methods (Solvent vs Aqueous or hybrid) for specific projects; Make recommendations regarding selection of cleaning chemistry based upon contamination removal ability, substrate compatibility, environmental and health considerations, regulations, and corporate policy.
Project Task Management (7%): Assign project tasks to relevant parties and check for status updates; Break down projects into smaller, manageable tasks with defined steps; Assign tasks to appropriate team members based on skills and capacity; Maintain project performing databases that track overall progress and accomplishment of specific milestones; Set deadlines and ensure project timelines are well-defined; Monitor regular status updates from team members including progress and potential issues; Utilize progress indicators and visual tracking methods; Ensure all segments of assigned projects are processed, organized, and progressing according to predetermined timelines.
Project Monitoring and Tools (6%): Monitor project progress using dashboard in Zoho Projects to see overview of projects and track task status; Utilize Gantt charts in Zoho Projects to visualize timelines, dependencies, and potential scheduling conflicts; Evaluate and analyze materials, equipment and practices used in projects; Optimize material selection based on strength, durability, cost, and sustainability; Monitor equipment sensor data for predictive maintenance and performance optimization; Identify process bottlenecks and inefficiencies based on historical data; Track resource utilization and adjust assignments to address bottlenecks.
Client and Stakeholder Communication (6%): Act as point of communication between company employees and external resources; Interact with clients to understand their needs and requirements including cleaning standards, throughput, consistency, cost, compliance, safety, and chemistry acceptability; Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers and other stakeholders; Build partnerships with third-party suppliers and external resources; Establish trust through open communication and clearly defined roles; Set mutual goals and regularly check in on progress with partners.
Cost Estimation and Supplier Evaluation (5%): Estimate operational project costs and evaluate against budget; Define project scope and identify required resources for each task; Apply estimation techniques including analogous, parametric, and three-point estimation; Include indirect costs such as overhead and contingency funds; Conduct risk assessment and allocate contingency funds; Evaluate competence, capabilities, resources, and financial status of suppliers; Analyze supplier quality, delivery performance, cost structures, and compliance; Compare suppliers and identify cost-saving opportunities.
Reporting and Documentation (4%): Prepare reports of project outcomes and risks to management; Create executive summaries with project goals, findings, and recommendations; Document project methodology and present detailed data analysis; Report on success metrics including cost savings and performance indicators; Discuss challenges and lessons learned for future projects; Prepare daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly progress reports; Report on budget updates, financial metrics, and key performance indicators; Escalate issues that could impact project timeline, budget, or deliverables.
Project Strategy Development (3%): Develop project strategies aligned with organizational strategic plans; Set project goals and success criteria; Define project scope and determine stakeholder involvement; Create and optimize processes to streamline workflows; Establish quality standards and quality assurance workflows; Manage aspects of supply chain including supplier relationships and logistics.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Bachelors Degree in Biochemical Engineering or related field and two (2) years of experience in the job offered or related. Experience must include : 2 years experience with operating technical cleanliness laboratory equipment including gravimetric analyzers, optical microscopes, and particle counters; 2 years experience with industrial cleaning chemistry; 2 years experience using ZOHO 1 (Desk, Projects, CRM and WorkDrive) software with management of at least 15+ concurrent projects; 2 years experience with vacuum degreaser systems and industrial cleaning equipment with throughput rates from 10-1000+ parts per hour; Experience preparing technical reports and documentation for minimum 30+ client projects with detailed analytical findings; 2 years experience directly interfacing with industrial clients from automotive, aerospace, or medical sectors; 2 years experience of compliance with EPA, OSHA, and industry-specific environmental and safety regulations.; 2 years experience coordinating with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and operations teams on multi-departmental projects.
